Dealing with Difference in "THE REAL WORLD" - Julie Stoffer
8:00 PM – Stephens Auditorium - Julie Stoffer appeared on MTV's Real World New Orleans. Julie grew up in a conservative Wisconsin town and attended Brigham Young University. Julie is a committed Mormon who introduced her religious beliefs and values to the world on "Real World." Justin Deabler appeared on MTV's Real World Hawaii. He graduated from Harvard Law, and is a politically active gay man involved in such social issues as HIV/AIDS education. Justin and Julie will talk about the experience of being labeled by society, and how they learned to appreciate people with different values and opinions. They will also be showing clips from the show. Thursday, August 30 8 p.m.

Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris
8:00 PM – Great Hall, Memorial Union - David Sedaris, humorist and best-selling author, made his National Public Radio debut with "Santaland Diaries," a widely funny monologue recounting his strange-but-true experiences being a green-tight clad elf at a Macy's store holiday display. Seders' sardonic humor and incisive social critique have sine made him one of NPR's most popular and humorous commentators. His current books, Me Talk Pretty One Day, was an instant New York Times bestseller. His other bestsellers include Naked and Barrel Fever. He also is a frequent contributor to Esquire and The New Yorker. Collaborating under the name, "The Talent Family," his and his sister, Amy, have written several plays that have been produced in New York City. Seders also taught writing at the Art Institute of Chicago for two years.

McLoyd is a professor of psychology and African American Studies, and Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Human Growth and Development at the University of Michigan.
