Succeeding in a Technological Society - Barrett Hazeltine
3:00 PM – Pioneer Room, Memorial Union - Barrett Hazeltine is Professor of Engineering and Associate Dean of the College at Brown University. He was on the faculty of the University of Zambia and the University of Malawi-Polytechnic. He is Vice Chair of the Council for the Understanding of Technology in Human Affairs and editor of The Weaver, a journal on technology and society.

Social and Ethical Questions in Human Genetic Engineering - Alexander Capron
8:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - Alexander Capron is Topping Professor of Law, Medicine, and Public Policy at the University of Southern California's Law Center. He was executive director of the President's Commission for the Study of Ethical Problems in medicine and Biomedical and Behavioral Research. He is a Fellow and member of the board of directors of the Institute of Society , Ethics, and the Life Sciences. He writes and lectures extensively on the subjects of medicine, ethics, and the law.

His books include The Southern Mystique: The Impact of Technology on Human Values in a Changing Region, Delta: The History of an Airline, and Iron and Steel in America.

The Challenge of Techonology - Jeremy Rifkin
8:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - Jeremy Rifkin has authored several books, including Who Should Play God? and Declaration of a Heretic. He is currently Director of the Foundation on Economic Trends and is best known as a critic of genetic engineering. Mr. Rifkin received his Master's Degree in International Affairs from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

Film: War Games
3:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - In this 1983 film, high tech intersects with leisure pursuits when a technologically proficient teenager accidentally taps into the Defense Department's computer and unknowingly challenges it to a game of thermonuclear warfare. The distinction between reality and game playing is blurred as it becomes apparent that the computer doesn't know it's a game and the teenager doesn't know it's war.
