Athletics in the 90's: A Decade of Change - Richard Schultz
5:00 PM – Benton Auditorium, Scheman Building - Richard Schultz is the executive director of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He was basketball coach and assistant to the president at the University of Iowa and athletic director at Cornell University and the University of Virginia.

12:00 PM – Maintenance Shop, Memorial Union - Richard Herrnstadt is professor of English and chair of the Ad Hoc Committee to Review the Academic Status of ISU Student Athletes. Kenneth Weller is president emeritus of Central College in Pella. Steve McDonnell is director of ISU's Athletic Academic Services and helped develop the Athletic Department's response to the ad hoc committee report.

He is author of a number of books including The First Freedom: The Tumultuous History of Free Speech in America, American Heroes: In and Out of School, Our Children Are Dying and The Day They Came to Arrest the Book: A Novel.

MaryAnn Yodelis Smith is professor of communications and vice chancellor at the University of Wisconsin Centers and has served as an academic consultant on accrediting teams. james Carney is parter-in-charge of the management consulting area at KPMG/Peat Marwick. Dale Ross, associate professor and assistant chair of the ISU English Department, will moderate.

The Decline of Education in the Age of Management - David Ehrenfeld
12:00 PM – Pioneer Room, Memorial Union - David Ehrenfeld is a professor of biology at Rutgers University and author of Biological Conservation, Conserving Life on Earth and The Arrogance of Humanism. He is currently working on a new book Losing Knowledge. Dr. Ehrenfeld received his doctorate in zoology from the University of Florida and a medical degree from Harvard.

Education for the People - Jim Hightower
8:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - Jim Hightower was twice elected and served 8 years as Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture where he established international marketing initiatives, agricultural processing projects and farmer cooperatives which especially benefitted Black and Hispanic farmers. He also served as the president of the Texas consumer Association, co-founded the Agribusiness Accountability Project and edited the nationally-respected Texas Observer. His books include Eat Your Heart Out: Food Profiteering in America and Hard Tomatoes, Hard Times a report on America's land grant colleges.

Julie Bradley is a political science graduate student who recently returned from the Middle East. Michael Boulden is president of Black Student Government. Amy Mooney is an English graduate student and former columnist for the [i}ISU Daily. Bamshad Mobasher is a GSB Senator and Committee on Equality member.

12:00 PM – Maintenance Shop, Memorial Union - Patricia Geadelmann is director of governmental affairs and was assistant provost for academic affairs at the University of Northern Iowa. mary Williams is a member of the iowa Board of Regents. bob Hollinger is associate professor of Philosophy at ISU and served on the Faculty Senate. Richard Van Iten, interim chair and professor of the ISU Philosophy Department, will moderate.

Higher Education in a Democracy - Gloria Scott
8:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - Gloria Scott is the president of Bennett College, a historically black college for women, in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is chair of the Task Force on Minority Participation in independent Higher Education for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities and serves on a number of boards including the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
