Good-by Columbus: Public Culture in An Age After Empire - Henry Louis Gates
8:00 PM – Sun Room, Memorial Union - Henry Louis Gates is the John Spencer Bassett Professor of English at Duke University. He has fought for broader representation of non-European cultures in university curricula and an emphasis on the contribution of women. His books include Figures in Black: Words, Signs and the "Racial" Self and Black Literature and Literary Theory. He also taught at Harvard and Cornell Universities.
