One of the country's most outspoken supports of free speech and personal freedoms. Jello Biafra is the only musician in history to be put on trial for the content of an album. He also ran for Mayor of San Fransico. To free himself of corporate censorship, he started the Alternative Tentacles record label, one of the longest running independent labels.
