First Amendment Week - The First Amendment: Past! Present. Future? - Gene Policinski and Judith King
7:00 PM – Campanile Room, Memorial Union - Gene Policinski, executive director of the First Amendment Center, Michael Kent Curtis, law professor at Wake Forest, and Judith Krug, executive director of the Office of Intellectual Freedom for the American Library Association, will discuss how the First Amendment has been the foundation of our nation's freedom, and how that freedom is endangered by today's lack of education about this founding principle of our democracy.

7:00 PM – Great Hall, Memorial Union - Matthew G. Whitaker is the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Iowa. Prior to his appointment, he worked for the law firms of Finley, Alt, Smith in Des Moines, Iowa; Briggs & Morgan in the Twin Cities; and was corporate counsel. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law, and also received a Master of Business Administration.

First Amendment Week - FEAST ON THE FIRST AMENDMENT!
11:00 AM – Central Campus - As the ISU community members feast on pork burgers, they also will feast on their First Amendment freedom of speech by debating issues of the day on soap boxes. Mayor Ted Tedesco and ISU President Gregory Geoffroy will open the festivities with our special guest, George Washington. Exhibits and You Be the Judge contest also will enlighten and entertain as we celebrate on Central Campus.

9:00 PM – Stephens Auditorium, Iowa State Center - $15/students $25/nonstudents - DANE COOK, Rolling Stone Magazine's newest "Hot Comic," will be coming to Iowa State University's Stephens Auditorium along with his comedy friends Gary Gulman, Robert Kelly and Jay Davis as part of his national "Tourgasm." Dane Cook has earned top honors as Comedy Central's Favorite Standup Comedian, Stuff Magazine's Coolest Comic of the Year and the internet-based "Pixie Award" for Best Actor in Spiral. Agriculture and Catholic Social Ethics - Robert Gronski
8:00 PM – Gerdin 1148 (Auditorium) - Robert Gronski is the policy coordinator for National Catholic Rural Life Conference. His varied background includes a doctorate in the sociology of agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1997) and several years experience in rural development and food relief programs in Asia and the Pacific. He is organizing and mobilizing resources necessary to implement policy positions on food, farm, environmental and other natural resource issues.
