World Bank President Jim Yong Kim

Jim Yong Kim is the 12th President of the World Bank. A physician and anthropologist, Dr. Kim has dedicated himself to international development for more than two decades, helping to improve the lives of under-served populations worldwide. He previously served as president of Dartmouth College, was a co-founder of Partners In Health and director of the HIV/AIDS Department at the World Health Organization. Born in Seoul, South Korea, he moved with his family to the United States at the age of five and grew up in Muscatine, Iowa. After graduating magna cum laude from Brown University, he earned an MD from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in anthropology from Harvard University. Lecture Etiquette

  • Stay for the entire lecture and the brief audience Q&A. If a student needs to leave early, he or she should sit near the back and exit discreetly.
  • Do not bring food or uncovered drinks into the lecture.
  • Check with Lectures staff before taking photographs or recording any portion of the event. There are often restrictions. Cell phones, tablets and laptops may be used to take notes or for class assignments.
  • Keep questions or comments brief and concise to allow as many as possible.
