Ambassador Joseph Wilson

Joseph Wilson was a career United States diplomat from 1976 to 1998. During Democratic and Republican administrations he served in various diplomatic posts throughout Africa and eventually as ambassador to Gabon. His career was marked with numerous senior government appointments, including that of Special Assistant to President Clinton/Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council. Wilson was the acting ambassador to Baghdad, Iraq, and was responsible for freeing more than one hundred American hostages in Iraq after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 1990. He will discuss his memior, The Politics of Truth, which includes his 2002 investigation into the report that Iraq was trying to buy uranium for nuclear weapons.
