Iowa State Political Science Professor Steffen Schmidt is perhaps best known as "Dr. Politics," the longtime commentator and cohost of WOI Radio's weekly political call-in show. He is also a CNN en Espanol election analyst. Schmidt will be joined by political commentator and former New Hampshire gubernatorial candidate Arnie Arnesen. Arnesen hosts the New Hampshire television show "Political Chowder," was a regular commentator on WBUR's "Greater Boston" with Emily Rooney and on SBS TV Australia. She is also a frequent guest with Schmidt on ," on Iowa Public Radio."Political candidates have a choice, they can either pander to people's fears in an effort to win or speak the truth in order to lead."

Lecture Etiquette
- Stay for the entire lecture and the brief audience Q&A. If a student needs to leave early, he or she should sit near the back and exit discreetly.
- Do not bring food or uncovered drinks into the lecture.
- Check with Lectures staff before taking photographs or recording any portion of the event. There are often restrictions. Cell phones, tablets and laptops may be used to take notes or for class assignments.
- Keep questions or comments brief and concise to allow as many as possible.
