Greg Behrendt is a comedian and the coauthor of He's Just Not That Into You and It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken. He and his wife Amiira are currently writing a third book titled, It's Just a Bleeping Date. The former consultant for "Sex And The City" has appeared on HBO's Mantastic, Comedy Central Presents and last year's Uncool, seen exclusively on Comedy Central, as well as many appearances on late night shows like The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. His new DVD is called "Greg Behrendt: That Guy from That Thing.Imagine you if only had one hour to tell people everything you had learned about life in an effort to keep them from screwing up theirs - the only catch is you have to make them laugh the entire time. This is the challenge comedian and New York Times best selling author Greg Behrendt has sets for himself every time he walks on stage. Author, television host, musician and stand up for over 18 years only begin to describe Greg Behrendt.
Greg Behrendt is the co-author of the two-million-copy bestseller, “He’s Just Not That Into You,” and established himself as a voice of reason and inspiration for all of us negotiating, and sometimes drowning in, the treacherous waters of romantic relationships. Co-authored with “Sex and the City” story editor, Liz Tuccillo, the book became the publishing phenomenon of the year after its release in September 2004. The book shot to the #1 slot on the bestseller lists worldwide, including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today. Oprah Winfrey devoted two shows to Behrendt and the book’s simple, but powerful message. Behrendt also made numerous television appearances including NBC’s “Today Show,” “20/20” and “Larry King Live” on CNN. After a fierce bidding war, New Line Cinema acquired the film rights to “He’s Just Not That Into You”. The film will be in theaters on February 6, 2009 with a stellar cast including, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson and Ben Affleck.
Last fall, Behrendt hosted the self-titled “The Greg Behrendt Show” for Sony Pictures Television which premiered in September 2006. The show featured Behrendt’s signature humor and advice when it comes to all kinds of relationships – including those with family, friends, romantic partners and relationships in the workplace.
In 2005, Behrendt, with his wife and co-author Amiira Ruotola-Behrendt, released a follow-up relationship book through Broadway Books/Random House. Offering straight talk, tough love, and hilarious (yet useful) tips on how to survive and get over break-ups, the book, titled “It’s Called a Break-Up Because It’s Broken,” immediately jumped to the top of the book charts again. Over a month after appearing in stores, the book is still climbing the bestseller lists, including the Wall Street Journal, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble.com, and The New York Times. They are currently working on their next book entitled “It’s Just A Bleeping Date.”
In November 2005, Warner Bros. released his debut DVD, “Greg Behrendt is Uncool,” which is the follow-up to his comedy CD entitled, “UNCOOL.” “UNCOOL” is the examination of a rocker turned suburban Dad struggling to hang on to his last threads of coolness. It explores the evolution of the male psyche while bucking the conventional entry into maturity. Behrendt brings his deepest, darkest fears of becoming a no-longer-relevant Gen-Xer to the surface, deconstructs the notion of “cool” and offers in its place a new definition for adulthood.
Based in Los Angeles, Behrendt was a consultant for three consecutive seasons on HBO’s “Sex and the City” in which he brought his original male point-of-view to the writing staff. His acclaimed stand-up comedy has been seen on HBO, “The Tonight Show,” “Late Show w/David Letterman,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and Comedy Central. He was named by Variety in 2001 as one of the “10 Comics to Watch.” In April 2006, he was honored by COSMOPOLITAN magazine as one of the twelve “Fun, Fearless Males” along with Patrick Dempsey and Nick Lachey.
